On April 24, 2024, the Federal Register published the Department of Justice’s final rule updating the regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
2024 updates to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) reaffirmed that public entities, including George Mason University, must provide fully accessible digital experiences.
By April 2026, all University websites and digital content must comply with WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards.
Digital accessibility means that websites, apps, and other digital tools are usable for everyone. Accessible content allows people to perceive, navigate, and interact with information in ways that meet their needs.
Both of George Mason’s enterprise CMS platforms, SiteMasonry CMS and Mason WordPress, are designed to meet these standards. To maintain accessibility, all content—including text, images, videos, audio, and documents—must also follow these guidelines.
