Component Catalog

There are many ways to utilize all that SiteMasonry has to offer.

What components you are able to use will be partially determined by what you are creating. When working on your website, you will be able to choose from one of two different types of pages: Landing Pages and Basic Pages. Sites connected to Content Hub will also be able to use a selection of components in news articles, academic programs, and profile pages.

This Component Catalog contains the most standard, reliable use examples for each block available on SiteMasonry sites.

Without a doubt, as you look at sites across the SiteMasonry ecosystem, you will see some sites using blocks in ways not mentioned in this guide.

  • Some are off-brand or accessibility issues. These issues we point out to site owners as we encounter them.
  • Some we know will risk causing a site to break if we update specific features. This is a risk we want to limit.
  • Some require specific technical knowledge to pull off. Using advanced knowledge risks other future site editors not knowing how to maintain your site.

For these reasons, we ask you to rely to the component use cases being demonstrated in this catalog as much as possible.

However, sometimes a member of the SiteMasonry community comes up with an idea we genuinely have not thought of and included here yet. To them, we tip our hats, for our community is better for the sharing of knowledge. If you have questions about uses of specific blocks, please contact us via our help system.

Components by Content Type

Different SiteMasonry content types will work with different types of components.

Components for Basic Pages

By default, every basic page has a Sub Navigation block added to the top of the page.

Components for News Articles

The body text of a news article also functions very similarly to a Basic Text block. Therefore we recommend taking a look at that page to learn more about what content can be placed inside your article.

News articles also have access to blocks that pull body text, topic tags, and more from the "edit settings" tab for public view. These can be used and placed like any other block.
