Editor Guide: Remove a News Story, Profile, or Program from a Subscribing Site

'Un-share' a news story, profile, or program item to remove it from a subscriber site.

Confirm Export Status

Before attempting to remove an item from a Subscribing Site, check if the item has been ‘pushed’, or exported, after Content Central implementation.

• Open the item in Content Central
   
• Click the item’s Sync Status tab.
   
  • Green circles indicate when, and to which subscribing sites and item has successfully exported to. An item with green circles can be removed from a subscribing site.
     
  • The “This content has not been pushed from or pulled into this site yet. If you think this is an error, try refreshing the page in a couple of seconds." message indicates the item hasn’t been pushed through the Content Central service. 

To avoid creating ‘orphaned’ items on a subscribing site, ‘Save and Push’ the item to all subscribing sites it was shared with before the March 24th Content Central implementation before attempting removal.

Remove from the Subscribing Site(s)

After confirming an item has exported through Content Central, the item can be removed from individual subscribing sites without creating an ‘orphan’:

• Open the item in Content Central
   
• Click on the item’s Edit Settings tab
   
• Remove subscribing site(s) names from the ’Share with these site(s)’
   
• At the bottom of the screen, click ‘Save and Push’
   
• Click ‘Push Changes’ on the confirmation screen
   
• To confirm deletion:
   
  • Watch the real-time, on-screen progress monitor
     
  • Click on the item’s Sync Status tab to view export and removal information

Delete from Content Central

After the item has been removed from individual Subscribing Sites, it can be deleted from Content Central without creating orphaned content on Subscribing Sites.

‘Orphan’ news story, profile, and program items on Subscribing Sites can only be removed by the SiteMasonry team. Please submit an ‘Orphan Removal Request’.
